Trunding Creek Weipa Sunset by Joan Stratton - The dry season purple and orange sunset and tropical tree silhouettes lining the shore of Trunding Creek that winds its way to join the Mission River Beach which is one of the many beaches in Weipa, Cape York, Queensland, Australia. It's such a shame that we can not swim in the beautiful waters that surround our town...too many saltwater crocodiles :)

Welcome to my home! This photo forms part of my Weipa & Cape York Collection.

Weipa is a remote town on the Gulf of Carpentaria which is on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia. The Alngith people are the traditional owners of Weipa and the site has significant indigenous cultural history and heritage areas. The name "Weipa" is derived from the Anhathangayth Aboriginal language. It comes from "Waypa" which means "fighting ground".
