A storm toppled the Mangrove Tree by Joan Stratton - The wonderful solo mangrove tree that lived in the tidal area of the beach was toppled during a storm, so now it lays on its side void of leaves but it is not dead, it still stands guard and watches the sun set in Weipa, Cape York, Queensland, Australia.

Weipa is a remote town on the Gulf of Carpentaria which is on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia. The Alngith people are the traditional owners of Weipa and the site has significant indigenous cultural history and heritage areas. The name "Weipa" is derived from the Anhathangayth Aboriginal language. It comes from "Waypa" which means "fighting ground".
