Ulysses Butterfly Patterns Orange and Blue by Joan Stratton - An open winged Ulysses butterfly (aka Blue emperor) with two flying butterflies on the bottom right hand side on a modern abstract pastel peach, orange, yellow and blue background. This large swallowtail butterfly is found in Queensland, Australia where it is used as the emblem for Queensland. It is also found in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Ulysses butterfly has brown under wing and a brilliant blue and black over wing. Papilio ulysses, the Ulysses butterfly (aka the Blue emperor) size varies depending on subspecies, but the wingspan is about 10.5 cm (4.1 in) in Queensland.
