Ah to Fly by Joan Stratton - An original painted artwork acrylics on canvas of the wonderful open winged Monarch butterfly and curled yellow, black and white striped caterpillar on a blue background.

This painting was for my uncle who was in a coma, after having a terrible head on collision on his way to work. It represented how I felt and what I prayed for, he was the caterpillar in his cocoon and I was wanting for him to be able to fly. Sadly, he never recovered fully finally succumbing to his injuries a few years later but he did fly although damaged. He loved this piece and its symbolism, it stayed with him for those years and then returned to me. It's like always having him with me.
