Im OK Are You OK 1of2 by Joan Stratton - A woman sits on a couch smoking a cigarette, she doesn't smile or display the torment going on inside her, behind her is a painting of a happy smiling face. Does this torment her?
A modern semi-abstract portrait art piece, of my interpretation of mental illness in the form of depression and anxiety, a state of mind that those who don't or haven't suffered, struggle to fully understand how it can control, overwhelm, cause fear, loathing, flight, remove motivation, decrease self-worth, take one into the deep, dark, depths.
A common statement/question from those who don't understand; Why don't you just get on with it! Just snap out of it! IF it was only that easy.
Starting with one of my charcoal sketches from the 90's, then digital blending a mixture of digital manipulation and drawing. Part of a series of PaintDigi-Blending.
