She Carries A Dark Passenger by Joan Stratton - A black and white portrait of a dark haired woman, with a gap toothed grin. Look closely and you can see patterns reflecting on her face and as you look, you can make out the image of a dark smiling clown. Outwardly she makes the world think she is a happy, healthy, positive person and all is ok, but inwardly she fights her demons daily and some days she has to hide away as she is sure they are written all over her face.
Have you ever meet someone and instantly had the feeling of uneasiness, the air becomes thick, you feel unwell and overwhelmed with a sense that there was something wrong?
This piece is a combination of two of my artworks, the face of a woman and an evil circus clown.
