N is for Northern Banjo Frog by Joan Stratton - An illustration of the ground-dwelling burrowing Northern Banjo Frog with a flashy abstract heart shape background. Its a big, robust built frog about 75mm in length. The yellow and orange markings on the side give the frog its other name of the scarlet-sided pobblebonk. The northern banjo frog is found near permanent water or temporary summer pools though it favours river flats, coastal lowlands and marshy areas. They are found through eastern Queensland to the tip of Cape York Peninsula in north Queensland, and as far south as northern central New South Wales along the western edge of the Great Dividing Range.
