Fade To Black by Joan Stratton - Anxious, nervous, worried, concerned, fearful, uneasy, fretful, restless, apprehensive! I am in a spin; checking, re-checking, going over it again and again, step by step. Wondering if I offended and how, which word might have been taken out of context, which word I should not have used. I cringe at the thought that I may have offended, and what I said was taken out of context but itβs important to say what you feel, in a nice way and not keep it bottled up inside. I try to be a wine glass half full type of person, instead of expending energy on being offended, itβs important to listen and try to understand. Avoid the Fade to Black!
Part of a collection of simplicity in black and white. Is it white on black or black on white? This series includes existing works where I have removed all colour therefore I am left with the result of the absence of colour.

Welcome to Paintings By Joan - Art & Design By Joan P Stratton. I live in the tropical far north, Cape York, Queensland, Australia. My beautiful home and country is the inspiration for my art. I began my working career in Melbourne, as a trainee in graphic art, technical drawings and drafting for a mining and engineering company. With the diversity of work available to me, I gained vast experience with all manner of mediums prior to the advent of computers. In the mid '80s, as a side-line to my permanent employment, I designed and prepared artwork for record covers (Albums, Eps), promotional ads and flyers for rock bands that marketed their music independently.
