Artist's Description
Faces That Started It All Water Reflection by Joan Stratton - It's an upside-down world, my water reflection is above my head, my face is split so I am side view and front view. My green eyes stare intently out into the world beyond, challenging those that stare back. My red lips are closed together softly so I can easily peel them back into a large inviting grin. A surreal, abstract piece of two blue face halves of a whole, both different but the same, with bright red lips. Same, same but different.
This piece is part of my Faces series where I am not one thing alone, I am a collection of many wonderful, odd, unusual, unique and familiar things that make up the whole of me.
Starting with one of my charcoal sketches, then digital blending a mixture of digital manipulation and drawing.

About Joan Stratton
Welcome to Paintings By Joan - Art & Design By Joan P Stratton. I live in the tropical far north, Cape York, Queensland, Australia. My beautiful home and country is the inspiration for my art. With the diversity of work available to me, I gained vast experience with all manner of mediums prior to the advent of computers. In the mid '80s, as a side-line to my permanent employment, I designed and prepared artwork for record covers (Albums, Eps), promotional ads and flyers for rock bands that marketed their music independently. I see myself as a mixed media artist, I love every medium and they all...
