6 Magpie Geese by Joan Stratton - A painterly effect of Magpie Geese wading in the reflective, lotus filled billabong at the Lotus Bird Lodge, Cape York, Queensland, Australia. While visiting my daughter at the Lotus Bird Lodge, I took a number of photos of the amazing variety of water birds that live on and around the billabong but you need to watch out for the saltwater crocodiles.

The magpie goose (Anseranas semipalmata) is the sole living representative species of the family Anseranatidae. This common waterbird is found in northern Australia and southern New Guinea. They are unmistakable birds with their black and white plumage and yellowish legs. The feet are only partially webbed, and the magpie goose feeds on vegetable matter in the water, as well as on land. Males are larger than females. Unlike true geese, their moult is gradual, so no flightless period results. Their voice is a loud honking (from Wikipedia).
