Zebra Pattern Wood Cockroach 3 by Joan Stratton - A surreal black and white illustration of three large zebra striped wood roaches on a zebra patterned background. The normally all black Australian Wood Cockroaches live in a group. They have communal organization and are powerful burrowers that live inside and feed on rotten logs in rainforest and open forest in coastal northern and eastern Australia. They are approx. 35 - 45 mm (1.5 - 2in). Black with a broad, heavily armoured body and stout spiny legs.
Part of my Zebra Pattern Series this is my version of a wood cockroach zebra style. This hand-drawn digital art work is using the patterns from my zebras painting on canvas.
