Weipa Beach Setting Sun On Patterns In The Sand by Joan Stratton - An orb light, bokeh, filled coloured art piece of the water rippled sand beach scene, where on the horizon the mangrove trees silhouettes stand at attention in the shallows as the coast curls around either side of the inlet and a rather large sun is on its way down to kiss the planet at Wallaby Island beach in Weipa, Cape York, Queensland, Australia.

Welcome to my home! This photo forms part of my Weipa & Cape York Collection.

Weipa is a remote town on the Gulf of Carpentaria which is on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia. The Alngith people are the traditional owners of Weipa and the site has significant indigenous cultural history and heritage areas. The name "Weipa" is derived from the Anhathangayth Aboriginal language. It comes from "Waypa" which means "fighting ground".
