One of the many beaches in Weipa, Cape York, Queensland, Australia. It's such a shame that we can not swim in the beautiful waters that surround our town...too many saltwater crocodiles :)
Weipa is a remote town on the Gulf of Carpentaria which is on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia. The Alngith people are the traditional owners of Weipa and the site has significant indigenous cultural history and heritage areas. The name "Weipa" is derived from the Anhathangayth Aboriginal language. It comes from "Waypa" which means "fighting ground".
