Description
Waterfront Cobh Cork Ireland by Joan Stratton - Cobh was the gateway to the new world and was last point of call for RMS Titanic. It was also the birth place of my paternal grandparents who came over to Australia from Ireland in the 1920s. I visited their beautiful city in 2012, to see the place they often talked about.
It's quite sad to know that they never returned and never saw any of their family members again. Australia was so far away and travel was so expensive.
The catholic cathedral church on the hill is St Colman's, it is one of the tallest buildings in Ireland.

I love the perspective, the church above everything else. I can relate to your story in the description. My great-grandparents came from Galway.
Joan Stratton replied:
Thanks so much April! The church always seems to have the best land/position in most towns :) Yes it much have been very hard leaving home and knowing you may never return :)
