VIII Jesus Comforts The Women Of Jerusalem by Joan Stratton - A painted art piece of the eighth of fourteen Stations of The Cross where Jesus tells the women to weep not for him but for themselves and for their children which is mounted on a vintage frame, with gold lettering, that floats in the sky filled with clouds and the background includes Psalm 23 of the Psalms of David; The Lord Is My Shepherd.
The original painting, that this work has been inspired by, was painted by an FCJ Nun back in the early 1900s for Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Arundel Street, Benalla, Victoria, Australia which at that time was considered a church of unsurpassed beauty and an architectural gem. The original paintings were threatened with destruction in a devastating fire in 1989. The pressed steel ceiling and many furnishings were destroyed in the fire, however thankfully the magnificent stained glass window, the Stations of the Cross and the pews were all saved.

I began my working career in Melbourne, as a trainee in graphic art, technical drawings and drafting for a mining and engineering company. With the diversity of work available to me, I gained vast experience with all manner of mediums prior to the advent of computers.
