View Of Small Islands Near Gizo Solomon Islands by Joan Stratton - A modern semi-abstract painting looking across the small stretch of sea from one small island to another in the pacific ocean near the island of Gizo, the capital of the Western Province in the Solomon Islands. We visited the delightful little islands throughout the Gizo area. When flying into Gizo you land via a small landing strip on the nearby island of Nusatupe which is to the north east of the town, in 1989. We were living in Bougainville Island, North Solomon's, PNG. Our island was on strict curfew during the sorry business of the independence war with PNG, so we wanted to get away for a break and Gizo was our destination.
