Tropical Mangrove Tree Blues by Joan Stratton - An abstract painted effect it is late afternoon, the silhouettes of the mangrove trees are set in the dry season sunset lighting up the sea like sparkling diamonds flicking in the reflections of the low hanging sun, north west of Lake McLeod, Wallaby Island beach in Weipa, Cape York, Queensland, Australia.

Welcome to my home! This photo forms part of my Weipa & Cape York Collection.

Weipa is a remote town on the Gulf of Carpentaria which is on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia. The Alngith people are the traditional owners of Weipa and the site has significant indigenous cultural history and heritage areas. The name "Weipa" is derived from the Anhathangayth Aboriginal language. It comes from "Waypa" which means "fighting ground".
