Mission River Beach NW View To The Bridge by Joan Stratton - A painted sea view from the sandy shoreline of the beach, out over the bright blue sea to the Mission River Bridge, and the big blue, dry season, late afternoon sky are all framed by the weeping branches of the Australia native She-oak Tree, also know as a Casuarina Tree, with is small round cone like nuts, in Weipa, Queensland, Australia. The She-oaks graceful weeping thin leaves, make a beautiful, haunting, whispering sound as the wind blows thorough them.

Welcome to my home! This photo forms part of my Weipa & Cape York Collection.

Weipa is a remote town on the Gulf of Carpentaria which is on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia. The Alngith people are the traditional owners of Weipa and the site has significant indigenous cultural history and heritage areas. The name "Weipa" is derived from the Anhathangayth Aboriginal language. It comes from "Waypa" which means "fighting ground".
