Mask Fairy Dust by Joan Stratton - A touch of fairy dust goes a long way!
A beautiful woman holds her hand flat, its full of fairy dust, she lifts it to her lips and blows the magical dust into a willly willy wind, that carries it away to appear and disappear as it disperses the dust magic to be found in the future by those in need.
We hide behind masks we make for ourselves; to protect ourselves, to protect others, to scare others, to keep people at a distance, to bring them closer - whatever the reason.
This digital art work is part of a collection of Masks (all have Mask in the title). For this piece I have used a digitally modified photo of my daughterβs face on several different backgrounds some are my other hand-drawn digital artworks and some are newly created hand-drawn digital backgrounds. I have also used an older method (like from primary school :) of inking the front and scraping/erasing a design/pattern into the work.

Welcome to Paintings By Joan - Art & Design By Joan P Stratton. I live in the tropical far north, Cape York, Queensland, Australia. My beautiful home and country is the inspiration for my art. I began my working career in Melbourne, as a trainee in graphic art, technical drawings and drafting for a mining and engineering company. With the diversity of work available to me, I gained vast experience with all manner of mediums prior to the advent of computers. In the mid '80s, as a side-line to my permanent employment, I designed and prepared artwork for record covers (Albums, Eps), promotional ads and flyers for rock bands that marketed their music independently. I see myself as a mixed media artist, I love every medium and they all...
