Industrial Crane Graphic Front End by Joan Stratton - A graphic art piece of the front end view of a 70 tonne Tadano Industrial mobile crane, showing the cab, a sign stating Over and the candy striped red and white of the lifting hooks, used on the mine site in Weipa, Queensland Australia.
This piece forms part of my Industrial Collection.
Weipa is a remote mining town on the Gulf of Carpentaria which is on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia. The Alngith people are the traditional owners of Weipa and the site has significant indigenous cultural history and heritage areas. The name "Weipa" is derived from the Anhathangayth Aboriginal language. It comes from "Waypa" which means "fighting ground". Surrounding the town are the vast deposits of bauxite ore which is the base ore smelted into aluminium.
