Description
Digging Kookaburra 2 by Joan Stratton - Blue winged kookaburra - Dacelo leachii (large species of kingfisher) - A pair of blue winged kookaburras are regular visitors to my garden in Weipa, Cape York, Queensland, Australia. Today the mother is giving the chick digging lessons, in the dirt beside the paved edge of our pool I assume looking for insects or lizards.

Once upon a time I used to work as a teacher, not far from Geelong in Victoria. There is nothing quite like the sound of these guys !
Joan Stratton replied:
It's a great place to be down that way, beautiful coast, great beaches. Do you miss it Joe :)

Hi Joan, These guy are having a bad hair day. 😄 Great shot. This could be used as a writing prompt to a lot of my writer friends. Good work. 👍
Joan Stratton replied:
Yes Tony, they were all fluffed up with excitement, though I could work out what the mother was trying to show the chick in the dirt :)
