The critically endangered Sumatran tiger is the smallest tiger subspecies from the Indonesian islands, it is a solitary cat who relies on the cover of the rainforest to hunt. Taronga zoo, in Sydney runs a successful breeding program for the Sumatran tiger, with three cubs born in 2019 representing nearly 1% of the total wild population.
